Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl ministry spends time together in
Christian fellowship praying for church members, friends of Maize and
family members by knitting shawls. The shawls are knitted and prayed for
before being given to those who have been prayed for. If you know how to knit/crochet or
would like to learn how to knit/crochet a prayer shawl you may join the
Prayer Shawl Ministry on Tuesday evenings in the parlor at 6:30 pm. If you
would like to contribute yarn or money to the Prayer Shawl Ministry please
see me or give me a call for more information. Please look at the bulletin
board for pictures of the working hands and the presentation of some of
the shawls.
We are women with working hands in service to our Lord.
“Hands to Work, Hearts to God”
The women involved in our Prayer Shawl Ministry are
Peggy Barnette, Sue Berkhouse, Debbie Cabrera, Alice Castle, Cherrie
Cherrington, Linda Fabbro, Hollie Freshour, Mary Kay Freshour, Abbie
Grimes, Darlene Grimes, Becky Halterman, Ann
Mathews, Lois Myers, Lynn Reid,
Kathy Sayre, Beth Spiroupolus, Martha Staker, and Susan Starkey. You are
invited to become a part of this ministry by coming at 6:30 p.m. Monday
evenings to the church. The sessions are held in Room 6 in the
education wing and will continue through the end of May.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
Cherokee Wisdom:
Two Wolves
An old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside
people. He said, “The battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all.
One is evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed,
arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride,
and a sense of ego superiority. The other is good. It is joy, peace, love,
hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity,
truth, compassion and faith.” The grandson thought about it for a minute
then asked, “Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee replied, “The one
you feed.”

We’ve gone digital!
You can now receive copies of the Memo in an email
format. If you would like to help the church save money on paper and
postage, we can switch you off of the “mailing” list and on to the “emailing”
list! Just send an email to BobCastle@maizemanorumc.org
and put “Digital
Memo” in the subject line. You’ll start receiving the emailed version
of the memo with the next month’s issue. Thanks for helping us stay
financially fit! |

Do you have a minute?
Have you written a check to the bank for your mortgage
yet? Did you take the time to write a check to the electric company? What
about the gas company? Water? Some of us need a personal assistant to keep
up with all of our checks that we write. Well our church is offering the
next best thing. We are offering direct contributions to the church. If
you haven’t used this type of system before, it works much like
automatic bill pay systems. Once you fill out the paper work, an amount
that you choose is taken from your bank account once or twice a month and
given to the church. It works much like your checkbook, but it is
automatic, and it reduces the hassle of you remembering to write a check
and bringing it to the church. It also saves you money spent on purchasing
new checks. The deadline for this account to be set up is the 15th
of every month. Pick up a form in the church office, or click here. If you have any questions about this
system, talk to Susan Starkey. |

Added Security Feature
We have added an updated security feature to the entrance
doors by the church office. The doors remain locked (except for Sunday
morning) at all times. Please press the button on the intercom box during
office hours and the church secretary can speak to you and unlock the door
from the church office. If you have a church key for particular meetings,
it will still unlock the Preschool entrance door. This enables office
staff to be aware if someone has entered the church building. If you have
any questions, please feel free to call the church office at 267-4939.
